NO, NOTHING TO DO WITH QUEEN...
Poor old Mel Galley succumbed to cancer the other day. Read it in the Guardian's obits this morning. Founder member of Trapeze with Glenn Hughes, Mel carried on with Trapeze for several years once Glenn received in 1973 an offer he couldn't refuse - to join Deep Purple!
Mel ended up in Whitesnake for a couple of years, replacing Bernie Marsden. He then suffered a broken arm and never really fully recovered.
Mel Galley was 60 years old. All the best...
(given the relative ages of the 'Classic Rockers' from the 60s and 70s, it's fairly certain there'll be plenty more following Mel to the Great Gig In The Sky)
